Police obtained a statement from approver Venkatachalam by torture and submitted the same in the court. But Venkatachalam explained the same before the judge. Leader George Joseph , brother of the famous Newspaper Editor Pothan Jospeh argued for Kamaraj and Muthusami and won the case. The magistrate J.P.S. Manro who presided acquitted  Kamaraj and others from this case stating that the evidences filed by the police were not satisfactory. At that time Gandhiji was touring Tamilnadu and stayed at Rajapalayam in the house of Kumarasami Raja and asked Dr.T.S.S.Rajan to conduct the case vigorously.

Rajan too helped very much for the victory of the case  When the case was filed police went to the house of Kamaraj for search. Kamaraj was not there. His mother did not allow the police to enter into the house. When there no male member. Only after a male relative was called in she allowed them. Police could not get anything.

The trial went on few months .Had the judgment was on the other side. Nation would have lost the last heir of Gandhiji.

Golden Jubilee of Congress was celebrated on 28th Decemeber of 1935. A book of  " History of Indian National Congress" written by Pattabi Seetharamaiah was released on that day. Even at Virudhunagar it was celebrated under the direct supervision of Kamaraj.
